Peredovic Sunflower

Helianthus annuus(Wildlife Habitat)

Peredovik Black Sunflowers are a warm season annual sunflower that can grow from 2-5’ tall forming heads of black seed high in oil content. Doves especially love the seeds as well as Deer, Turkey, Pheasant, Rabbit & Quail. Deer seek them out when they are young and still growing. About 110 days for full maturity after the seed has germinated.

For use in Cover Crops, sunflowers can produce lots of biomass but become woody early in maturity, and can only be used as forage for a short time. They are best used to draw in birds and other pollinators to the field. They do have strong taproots that penetrate downward with spreading branch roots. Planting date- April-July, broadcast or plant at a  depth ½” or less. Use in food plots for Deer, Turkey, Duck, Dove, Pheasant, Rabbit & Quail.
